ALIAS - In Space no-one can hear you meow
In space, no-one can hear you meow.
Forty years after the destruction of the towing vessel USSC *Nostril*, Warrant Officer Shipley is a hero. She fought the Exo-fiend hand-to-claw. She rigged the ship to blow. She saved the day.
At least, that's what she tells the Omni-Corp boardroom.
Curled on her lap, a large orange tabby called **Smith** remembers how it *actually* happened.
ALIAS is an isometric stealth-puzzle game. You play Smith, the *Nostril*'s ship-cat. The crew has been eaten, Shipley is asleep in the escape pod, and nobody pressed EJECT. Smith has no thumbs, but he has an entire ship of robots, a mildly sarcastic ship's AI called MEOW-TH-UR, and nine lives.
### Features
- A cat who moves like a cat. Smith runs, gallops, leaps, climbs server racks, squeezes through air ducts, sits, grooms and puffs up when something with too many jaws gets close. All of it is animated by hand in code.
- Just the arrow keys. Smith works out the jumping, climbing and leaping himself.
- 19 rooms you can map. Doors lead both ways, rooms remember what you did, and the ship plan fills in as you explore. Some routes loop back, some are shortcuts, and one is just a nice view.
- Puzzles solved the cat way:
- knock a coffee mug off a shelf to distract a guard;
- trick an acid-blooded skitter into melting a grate;
- walk across a giant keyboard to hack the mainframe;
- shove crates of Fishy-Bites onto pressure plates;
- freeze in the vents while the motion tracker pings faster and faster;
- lure an Exo-fiend over a tripwire, then sit down and groom;
- flush the last one out of the airlock.
- 43 hidden fish and treats. Smith's final thought depends on how many you find.
- A big red button that says DO NOT PRESS. You will press it.
- Music that reacts. Slow and spooky while you sneak, and a pounding chase theme when you're spotted.
### Controls
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| WASD / Arrow keys | Move Smith. That's it. |
